A SAVOURY nation: with Brits preferring savoury flavours to sweet, Jacob’s launches the UK’s first SAVOURY cocktail bar

– UK’s first savoury cocktail bar will open its doors in London on 9th & 10th July.
– A range of exclusive savoury cocktails developed by Jacob’s, and world-renowned mixologist, Matt Whiley will be available.
– Flavours will include Chilli Con Carne, Plum Spring Rolls, and Fish and Chips.

Over half of Brits (51%) prefer savoury flavours to sweet*, according to research from Jacob’s. Yet despite our love affair with savoury flavours, 80% of UK adults have never tried a savoury cocktail**. As a result, the savoury snack maker is opening the UK’s first savoury cocktail bar on the 9th and 10th July, serving up  a range of gourmet cocktails, or ‘Snacktails’, to perfectly accompany the flavours of Jacob’s new Cracker Crisps range, including Sour Cream and Chive, Thai Sweet Chilli and Salt and Vinegar.

According to the research, 45% of UK adults have changed their flavour preferences over time* – moving from sweet to savoury, as they progress into adulthood. Changing flavour preferences and the rising trend of gourmet cocktails, means that over half of Brits (56%) would like to try a savoury cocktail**. The pop-up event is free to anyone over the age of 18, with guests receiving three complimentary savoury cocktails, one of each flavour.

Developed in collaboration with expert mixologist Matt Whiley, aka Talented Mr Fox, – voted one of London Evening Standard’s 1000 Most Influential People in 2014 – guests can expect cocktail flavours including Chilli Con Carne, Plum Spring Rolls, Fish and Chips – and plenty of theatre. Matt is also the mastermind behind wacky cocktail concoctions such as Bin Juice, Salt Beef Sazerac and Marmite Martini.

Mixologist Matt Whiley said: “Consumers are definitely becoming more adventurous when it comes to taste, with the savoury cocktail trend only continuing to increase, and so the minute I heard that Jacob’s wanted to push the boundaries with savoury cocktail flavours for the launch of their new Cracker Crisps range, I jumped at the chance to be involved. I’m confident that people won’t be disappointed when they come and visit the Jacob’s Snacktail Bar; they’re in for a savoury treat.”
